Saw a few of you praising the NNA refreshers and the county clerk webinars - thanks for those tips - but I’m still hitting gaps on tricky IDs and credible witness scenarios. If you’ve taken anything recently that was worth the time (and not just a certificate mill), which course and what did you actually walk away doing differently?
Notary2Pro’s Advanced course was the most practical for me - their credible-witness segment used real scenarios and I now follow a simple script: confirm how each CW knows the signer and get the exact affirmation, then note ID method and reason in my journal. If you share your state, I can point you to a state-specific class that drills the allowable IDs and CW limits.
American Society of Notaries’ “Identifying Signers & Credible Witnesses” webinar was the most useful; I left with a tight flow where I verify each CW’s eligibility, question them separately on how and how long they know the signer and that they have no interest, administer the oath, and journal each CW’s ID details line-by-line. One tweak that’s saved me trips is sending a pre-appointment text that spells out acceptable IDs and CW rules so clients line up the right people before I drive.
