On a 128-page refi last night, my ScanSnap iX1600 averaged 19 ipm duplex at 300 dpi and made a 44.2 MB PDF, while my older Brother ADS hits 23 ipm but lands at 52.7 MB with slightly crisper text — does anyone have measured benchmarks (ipm + MB) at true 300 dpi for loan packages, especially on portable units? I’m picking a car kit scanner and care about tiny deltas more than the box specs.
On my Epson DS-360W car kit, a 128-page refi at ‘300 dpi, duplex, grayscale, MRC’ averages about 16 ipm and lands about 36 MB; enabling in-driver OCR drops it to about 12 ipm and about 42 MB. For crisper text like your Brother, try B/W with JBIG2 and you’ll see about 22–26 MB, but stamps and shaded boxes can get crunchy. It’s a glovebox champ, and I can run a true-color sample if you want.
