Notary public myths debunked

I’ve been seeing a lot of misconceptions about what notaries can and can’t do lately. For instance, many people think we can certify copies of documents and that’s just not true in most states. I’m curious if anyone else has run into these myths in their practice and how you handled it.

I totally agree with you about the myths circulating in our field. I once had a client convinced I could notarize a copy of an ID; I had to explain that it varies by state. Being clear about our limitations upfront helps manage expectations — do you find that helpful too?
