I picked up two remote notarizations this week by turning on alerts and applying within minutes — “apply promptly” is real. Just make sure the “remote” gig accepts your state commission; some still want you licensed where the signer is. It’s a bit like snagging concert tickets: the earlier you click, the better your chances.
Last week I caught a late-night RON because I set 15‑minute text alerts — @bstevens75 is right about speed, it’s like snagging concert tickets. Small caveat: confirm whether the “remote” job specifies a platform (Notarize, BlueNotary) and who covers KBA/video fees, since some pay net‑30 and those costs add up.
And quick tip: I use a text expander with my commission, eNotary cert, and RON platform IDs so when those “real-time” listings pop, I can fire off a complete app in under a minute. Small caveat, @bstevens75: a lot of the “remote positions” this week are really IPEN with in-state signer/witness rules — — so I ask the scheduler to confirm before I block the slot.
Seen the ‘real-time’ listings vanish in under an hour; having my W-9 and vendor packet pre-filled lets me hit send fast and I landed two urban gigs Tuesday. Minor gotcha: some ‘remote’ posts still require in-state residency for KBA, so skim the fine print before applying. @mape500 FWIW, platform listed (Notarize vs BlueNotary) seemed to affect callbacks.
